ANOTHER Free Walgreens photo deal!

Walgreens....I'm fallin' back in love with you (after our little break-up regarding a rebate misunderstanding).

I just picked up 45 4x6 photos for a grand total of .27. I can find that much change in a parking lot (well, in nice parts of town, at least).

Here's the latest photo deal:

An 8x10" scrapbook page from your uploaded images for free via coupon code "SCRAPIT". (Click "Photo" at the top.)

You can have them shipped to your home, but the best bet is to visit a local Walgreens to pick them up (for FREE S/H). They're typically ready in one hour.

FREE Splenda Samples

I love Splenda in my coffee! Here's a great way to try it or to expand to some flavors...

Free Splenda SamplesSplendidLife.com, the website of the sweetener Splenda, offers samples of Splenda Sweetener with Fiber, Splenda Flavors for Coffee Hazelnut, or Splenda Flavors for Coffee Mocha for free by filling out this form. Each sample includes two packets of the no calorie sweetener of your choice. One-sample limit per household.

MORE Walgreens photo deals! WOW!

Walgreens offers 25 4x6 prints from your uploaded images for 25 cents via coupon code "PENNY".

The catch? You have to order at least 25 photos...I just tried to order 18 and it wouldn't let me. UMMM, OK Walgreens, if you insist that I order more photos and still just pay .25, who am I to argue??

You can have them shipped for about .12/print, but the best bet is to visit a local Walgreens to pick them up - that would be FREE shipping! I just ordered 25 prints and, with tax, I paid .27 TOTAL for 25 photos!!

That's a GREAT deal...and trust me, I know great deals ;-)

Walgreens Photo Deals - FREEbies!

FIRST DEAL: 50 4x6 photos for only $5! Not free, but still a great price! Be sure to pick them up at your local store to save on S/H!

click here to go to their site...type in EASY50 now through Saturday, August 22nd.

SECOND DEAL: Also available, a FREE 8x10! Again, have it shipped to the store for free delivery. It might make a great Christmas gift! Use code 8x10 (no spaces).

I got lots of great stuff for $23 OOP, plus .35/gallon for our next gas fill up, PLUS the $20 check I'll be getting in the mail PLUS the $5 instant savings on my next purchase (which I used last night in a second transaction). I'll try to post the picture later today...ENJOY!

Enjoy!

Kashi Clearance at Meijer

Whilst spending some quality time with my young son (shopping at Meijer) we (well, mainly me) were thrilled to find lots of fresh clearance items. I spoke with an employee and they are discontinuing lots of things to make room for new and/or better selling items.

Here are a few good ones to look for:
  • Meijer Brand organic coffee, in a can. Both dark roast and medium are marked down, from $3.99 to $1.86. Had some this morning and it's really, really good! There were recently some catalina coupons for $1.50/2 Meijer brand organics, so this would make for some super cheap 'joe'!
  • Kashi Go-Lean Strawberry (with flax seed) waffles - marked down to $1.67/box. If you have any remaining Kashi waffle coupons (I had several from a recent Vocalpoint mailer for $1.50/1 box), you get some super cheap waffles! I got 5 boxes for only .17 each!
  • Several brands/flavors of frozen juice concentrate
  • Much, much more throughout the store...Just look for the bright orange stickers on the self tag (my son and I made a game of looking for the stickers....Good times).

Save $$ on Super cool items & help a good cause

Have you heard of Global Girlfriend?

This incredible company sells incredibly cool, handmade items from all over the world...these items are Women-made, eco-friendly and are made by women in economic distress (for example, my fav t-shirt from GG was made in a co-op run by Catholic Nuns in India which employees only local, handicapped women who have been shunned by society, using only organic cotton grown by local, small-scale farmers). It's a cool company and their wares are amazing!

Check it out here. Until June 5 at midnight PT, enter the code SUNGIRL to receive $5 off $25 and part of the proceeds will go to feed malnourished children in Africa.

Cute clothes/purses/soaps/etc. and feeding starving children? What could be cooler?

Save $$$ on gas

Well, the prices at the pump are up again. I'm trying to drive less, but since I still have to get places, I've found some great tips for saving money on gas, and I thought I'd share them with you...

  • Not maintaining your engine properly can lower MPG by 4%. Be sure to get your oil changed every 5,000 miles and get manufacturer recommended tune-ups.

  • Each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $.23/gallon for gas! Maintaining a speed of about 60 mph on the highway will get your best gas mileage.

  • Running on tires that are as little as 20% under-inflated increases fuel consumption by 10%!!!! Imagine how much money we could all save (and have a lower impact on the environment) if we just checked our tires once every few weeks! It's easy to check your tires and most oil-change places will do it for free (hoping to get your oil-change business)

  • "Aggressive" driving (fast starts and sudden stops on a regular basis) can lower your fuel economy by 35%!

  • Drive with an empty car - the more your car weighs, the more fuel it takes to move it (duh). So dump the "junk in your trunk"! For every 100 lbs of "stuff" in your car, your fuel economy is reduced by 2% (think golf clubs, kids toys, the kitty litter you keep in the trunk for extra winter traction, stuff you've been meaning to drop-off at Goodwill, etc.)

  • Don't idle! Idling for only 10 seconds or more takes more fuel than turning off and then restarting your car. I turn mine off whenever I'm at the bank or pharmacy drive-thru window.

  • Pack it inside when travelling - A loaded roof rack can decrease your fuel economy by 5%. And driving with an empty roof rack can decrease your fuel economy by 1%.

  • Combine trips whenever possible and plan your route ahead of time.

Aldi Deals - week of 5/31

As always, Adli comes through with some great produce deals. Many Walmart's will meet these prices, but call and ask your local manager first. Also, I've noticed that Aldi's produce is a higher quality than my local Walmart, so it's worth the extra stop.

  • 1.49 Pineapple
  • .99 Cantaloupe
  • .99 Strawberries
  • 2.99 Whole Seedless Watermelon

Don't forget - at Aldi they DO NOT accept credit cards or checks and you need to bring your own bags. Also, if you want a shopping cart, you have to rent one for .25 (you get it back when you return the cart).

Energy Saving Tips

As summer approaches, we'll all be using even more energy to cool our homes. Here are some tips to help you cut back on your utility bills:

  • Cook with your microwave whenever possible - it uses 65% LESS energy than your oven - not to mention that your oven heats up your kitchen! It's also a great time of year to use your grill...

  • Close the drapes/blinds - Everyone (well, almost everyone) loves natural light...but leaving curtains & blinds open during the heat of the day can make your room/house about 10 - 15 degrees hotter - which makes your a/c run harder & longer - costing you big bucks. Early morning and evening sunlight is great and can light a room for free without heating up your home.

  • Wait to put leftovers away - your fridge has to work harder to cool down warm food - wasting energy! So, let leftovers sit on the counter and cool down a bit before putting them in the fridge. Set a timer for about 25 to 30 minutes so you won't forget....leaving it out for too long can promote bacterial growth. I usually left leftovers sit in the storage container while I finish cleaning the kitchen from dinner....when I'm done cleaning, the food is cool enough to store for a later meal!

  • Fill up your freezer - a freezer expends extra energy to chill all unused space! If you don't have your freezer filled with stock-piled food, fill it up with bags of ice or empty containers of water (which will become ice, duh). I sometimes use these "space fillers" in the bottom of a cooler.

  • Doing some landscaping this year? Plant some deciduous trees (those that lose their leaves) on the south and west sides of your home - these will block the sun in the summer, but let the sun warm up your home in the winter!

  • Save on water - After the kids take a bath, don't drain the tub right away! Fill up a plastic watering can and water your potted plants and garden vegetables. FREE water and the plants love slightly soapy water (natural insect repellent).

Meet Me at Meijer - updates!

Another fabulous week of savings for me! Spent $26 on 30 items! (including 3 gallons of milk, lots of organic carrots, 2 bags of Lay's chips, organic apples, canned beans, bags of frozen corn and of course, lots of BBQ sauce!).

Here are two additional deals I saw today at the store for you to take advantage of:
  • Mentos Gum - Sale .99 AND .55 coupon (insert 5/3 SS) NET PRICE = FREE
  • McCann's frozen french fries - Sale $2 AND $1 coupon (insert 5/3) NET PRICE = $1 **Be sure to get a rain check if they are out of these. These sweet potato fries are AWESOME and pretty darn healthy!!**
  • A-1 marinades - Sale .89. There are no coupon match-ups for this one, but these marinades are usually $3.98, are much larger than Lawry's bottles and are really, really good! I use the Classic A-1 marinade in beef stew. This is the best price I've ever seen...

BTW - If you ever need a raincheck at Meijer (which I always do!) you DO NOT need to go to the customer service counter - your cashier can give you one....even in self-serve lanes....just ask the "cashier helper" at the self-serve lanes for one.

FANTASTIC Deal on Cereal at CVS

Starting on Sunday, May 3 - CVS will have a great deal on Kellogg's cereal! Here's the scoop:

Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, Frosted Mini Wheats, & Special K Cereal
  • Sale 3 for $10, earn $5 ECB
  • Coupons for $1 off each box (print and use three) from my coupons.com link here and/or the widget on my right side bar (PRINT THESE SOON AS THEY WILL GO FAST!!)
  • NET PRICE = After the $3 coupons AND the $5 you earn for your next purchase = 3 for $2 (that's .67/box)!

Many people ask me about what I consider a "good price" for something. This is a good example - I will NOT pay over $1.00 for a box of cereal and I don't like to buy generic cereal. Using coupons combined with sales, I typcially pay between .35 and .87 for a box of brand name cereal....I'm telling you friends, couponing works!

Be sure to get a rain check if your store is out!

Ok, call it bragging....or call it an update. Whatever you call it, I got some SWEET deals today at Target. Here's the breakdown:

First Transaction:
2 - Glade Soy candles (see post below for coupons - these candles are really nice!)
= $3.99 Out of pocket AND earned a $5 Target giftcard

Second Transaction:
1 - J&J baby cotton swabs $1.29 - .75 Target IP AND $1.00 coupon (insert 3/8 RP) - (we'll use these as "grown-up q-tips)
1 - Starbucks candy .90 on clearance - 1.00 coupon (insert ***)
1 - Dry Idea deodorant $2.00 - $2.00 coupon printable from the coupons.com widget on my right hand side bar
1 - 10 pack of Marketplace fruit snacks $1.52 - $1.00 Target IP
1 - pack of Trident White gum .95 (had to buy 'cuz the register beeped, 'cuz the store was going to owe me money and they don't do that!)
= $1.09 - paid for with giftcard earned above

Bottom line: I got 7 items for $3.99 OOP and left with a $3.91 balance on my Target gift card (when you add in the gift card, I only paid .08 for all of that!)

Side note: The woman behind me almost stroked out when the register beeped and the cashier and I had to discuss what I could buy to make the transaction work. The conversation took about 35 seconds, but the DIVA behind me with NO coupons (gasp!), in very expensive, very tight jeans and $500 boots sighed so loudly that I thought one of her lungs had collapsed. This was enhanced by my two year old trying to climb out of the cart to "ride" on the conveyor belt...Ahh, adventures in couponing!
