How to EARN $$ by filling your prescriptions

The key to saving money is to develop a creatively-frugal attitude and to ALWAYS be looking for new ways to use the store's own policies to your advantage. One great way of making money for something you already do? Filling your prescriptions using pharmacy coupons.

  • Most stores offer incentives for you to get your prescriptions from them - coupons in the paper for $10 Target gift card for any NEW or TRANSFERRED script; $25 Walgreen's gift card for any TRANSFERRED script, etc. Once you start watching for them, you'll notice them everywhere. When you see one, KEEP IT (and ask friends & family for their unused ones, which can come in handy, see example below).
  • Keep them organized in your coupon box, under a tab for each store (CVS, Walgreen's, Target, etc.)
  • Notice if the coupon is for NEW and TRANSFERRED or just transferred scripts. The coupons for new scripts are great for antibiotics, ear drops, etc. These are less common.
  • The coupons for transferred scripts are great for anyone who takes medicine on a regular basis.
  • Example - My husband, son and I each have one medication that we must take every month (allergies)....we usually get them filled at Kroger. However, there was recently a coupon for $25 gift card at Walgreen's for any transferred script - good for one coupon per person, regardless of how many scripts you wanted to transfer. SO, I collected a few extra coupons from friends who weren't going to use them, then I transferred our scripts to Walgreen's (took about 3 minutes on the phone with Walgreen's, they handled all the details) and about an hour later, had $75 in Walgreen gift cards!
  • You could transfer your scripts as often as you like, making money each month! (next month, I'll be transferring to Meijer, as they had a coupon out last month).
  • There are sometimes coupons on the stores' own websites that you can print out and take to the pharmacy.
  • Some stores take competitor coupons, just ask your store manager.
  • Have a list of your other medicines written down for the pharmacists, in case there are any interactions they need to be aware of.

This is an easy way to save and earn money!
