Let's Go Krogering! Week of 3/01/09

This is my first trip to Kroger for the week...I'll be heading back to pick up a prescription (free $25!) and a few other things.

I got some great deals today...here are some highlights that you can take advantage of, too...

  • Quaker Instant oatmeal - this sale includes all of the Quaker instant oatmeal, including the High Fiber (my favorite). Many of the boxes are specially marked with $4 additional coupons inside! SALE PRICE 2 for $3 (limit two boxes) plus .70 off one box coupons in the 1/4 insert, which double to $1 off/ box. I had two coupons, so my total NET PRICE = only .50/box!
  • Strawberries $1.28/lb
  • Seedless grapes .97/lb
  • Curious George Fruit snacks $1.00/box
  • Minute Rice ready-to-serve cups (my son's fave food. Yes, really.) sale for $1.78 and I had a .70 coupon (doubled to $1) NET PRICE = .78
  • Nature's Bounty vitamins - Sale Buy one get one free, plus there have been several $1 off coupons lately (and on their website). I got two 100 count calcium $4.69 each, BOGO = $2.35 each, 2 $1 coupons NET PRICE = $1.35 each (thanks Laura P. for the tip) They also have kid's gummie bear vitamins - Spider man themed as part of the BOGO deal.
  • Pillsbury refrigerated "dough" items (breads, rolls, biscuits and cookies) have a special running now through 3/22 that wasn't listed in this week's ad - Most are on sale AND if you purchase any 4, you'll receive a coupon for $1.50 off your next Kroger purchase. Don't forget there have been LOTS of Pillsbury coupons in the Sunday ads over the last two weeks (and in the 1/4 insert), many packages of cookie dough have "peelies", there are some deals on Shortcuts (electronic coupons) and some printables from my coupons.com link at the bottom of my web page (thanks for supporting my site by printing from here!). Combine the sale, the coupons and the Shortcuts coupons and you're looking at some VERY cheap refrigerated dough! (Thanks to my girl Laura P for the heads-up).
  • I also bought lots of "special" allergy-free food for my son (about $10 worth of his "must-haves", allergy-free food). For other families who buy lots of "special" foods, please note, there is a deal on Rice Dream Rice Milk - the large cartons are $4.69 (not a great price) but if you buy 3 you get $1 coupon off your next grocery order and there are "peelies" on several of the cartons for $1 off 4 cartons. Since this "must have" rarely goes on sale, I thought I'd add this for those who need it.

All in all, I spent $29.96 for $56.53 worth of groceries - that's a savings of $26.57!

Don't forget to bring your own bags from home for an additional discount - I saved .27 today this way.

Be sure to check out the other Kroger deals at The New Frugal Mom's blog! She's always got lots of great deals listed...

Thanks for linking up! I've got an Rx coupon to use there soon, too. I'm saving it for a really slow sale week!

I hope you'll link again next week - sheesh, I just hope next week's sale is better than this week's!!
